There was an ad on Gumtree for an XC Fairmont for 26 K. It was nothing special in terms of k's or condition, can't find the ad now.
Was the seller smoking crack or am I just out of touch with prices ? |

Were you thinking of this car, it's a GXL and a nice car, I don't think price is unreasonable, but in the current market it will be hard to get it.

I don't think its outrageous when you see old XY Falcon 500's done up as GT's for 50K

^^That game is over. Real GTs are coming down and replica sellers are realising that they need to get back some of the $70K they paid for a Falcon 500 with some stripes and body full of bog.

It looks OK for its age, i don't think it would be my cup of tea though, I would prefer the 5.8 and no lowering.
I remember when the XC's where brand new, our dealership got the job of supplying /taking all of the Ford's of that era into the Melbourne motor show, a bit of a thrill for a young ford apprentice. |

Really, many replica's that I have seen have tanked in price. So they should.

It's all about demand and supply. Too may XYGT replicas out there hoping to cash in on the big bucks they spend.
Seen one, seen them all. I was in Bright for a few days for the car show and if I see another 1957 Chev I'll puke. You can indeed have too much of a good thing. I do like the XC though, asking $25,000 would mean he would probably let it go for closer to $20,000 depending upon the condition an inspection would reveal it may be a fair price. |

Ok I was wrong about the "over $100K" bit but still. Like Cav says they're all over the place and once you've seen one you've seen them all.

That Starion has been listed for sale for over 7 years now. The bloke that owns it is a bonafide squeezer. Honestly thinks he has a japanese Ferrari.

It's funny how the bloke who owns the Starion mentions how economical it is on his ad! Don't know if that's a selling feature for an overpriced weekender!

He's on crack. Halve the price and it's getting there. Don't compare XCs with XYs. That said, I'd rather have a GENUINE XC GXL than a replica XY GT. I'd also rather have a genuine XY Falcon 500 than a replica GT. Replicas suck. Why? Because as an owner, you'd always know it's trying to be something it's not.

Geez. Are all cars on that site so OVERPRICED????
I love P6 LTDs. Hell, I have one. No P6 is worth $28000 - especially with 300,000ks. I don't care if it's triple black or quadruple black or whatever. http://www.fordmusclecars.com.au/vie...p?itemID=12966

Maybe the asking price of some of tribute/replica vehicles is giving some people unrealistic ideas on the worth of their own lesser desirable cars? Compared to the asking price of the fakes above, $25k might sound like an absolute bargain to some people wanting to get in on the 70's nostalgia? Nice looking car btw.

Or do you think these are all "wife prices"? If so I don't blame them. Yas might see my EL XR8 with 300k on the clock advertised here soon for $20,000; "at least I'm advertising it dear"..right?

I bought my P6 with 183000ks for $9000. Granted, it's not "triple black" but still.
