Default Engine temps with intercooler blocking radiator

Hi,

My cars coolant temp is reaching the top of the R in Normal since the intercoolers been on... I can understand that it will run a little hotter, but is thee any danger in this???

Just wondering if this is normal?? And should i worry about getting the thermos on constantly? Or something else?

THe cooler basically blocks all air flow 770x300x76 so its understandable... But i get a bit giddy seeing it up there on the temp gauge.

Cheers.

Do you run aircon? I pulled mine off because of this. My engine temps never changed with the cooler in front of the rad and its a pretty big thing, but mine isnt OHC either, you should still have resnable airflow through the core, its it bar and plate or tube and fin?

dont use aircon lately, especially when i see the temp going up. I would have thought there would be better airflow.

i know a friend of mine was having similar problems.
had to get the radiator cleaned out to try and improve the situation.

does it rise at idle, it will, it should drop when moving as revs are up, and water flowing better, you could try and fit a elec water pump, ewp110.

What does it look like from the side in terms of places the air could bypass the radiator? Air will take the natural path of least resitance. The other thing you could measure is the air temp before and after the cooler to see what the radiator actually has to cool with.

Maybe so but if theres not enough air flow thru the system you,d be pumping hot coolant around

the intercooler *is* the reason.
he's askin if its normal for it to run that hot.

theres simply not that much of an intake on EF front bars.

Try a 3 core radiator, and mod the thermofans to come on earlier.

I wouldn't be to concerned.
At the same boost without cooler, does it run as hot?

oh its definately got to do with blocked airflow, im just wondering what people have done to cool it a little, just to be on the safer side.

When cruising on highway its ok, but it definately hotter at slower speeds/traffic...

My radiator just crapped itself which i could probably blame this on too lol oh well...

Will look at a bigger radiator. Any different models with better radiators which will bolt in?

Cheers.
