Hello,
How many engines have people cooked ? This alone is enough reason to get one as a first car for a Kid. Being a cheaper safe Car, and old hose still can split, and the engine will not die. The motors were also very good, even though they were not yet DOHC. |

AU's were (are) certainly not loved. You don't often see nice ones around any more. They all tend to be rough and tired. A nice one really does stand out. The styling was forced upon them to a degree, but they certainly went a little overboard. Compared to similar cars of the era (where round jelly bean shapes were in fashion), the AU looked like something from outta space. The AU arrived on the back of a very elegant EF-EL design which just made it look uglier. The VT of the day absolutely nailed the current design fashion of the time, but looks horribly dated now.
Imagine being on the AU design team. They copped a bollocking from the public and have even been blamed for Ford's current downfall! Imagine too being over at Holden - they must have been laughing their heads off, literally!

Hello,
I agree, and another thing to consider is the Territory. It was developed when the AU wasnt going very well. It survived, and there are many around these days. How many Holden Adventra's do you see ? |
