Top loader on a 3.3? Something isn't right. Do a vin search, many things come to light with that.

200cu 2V Cortina with a top loader not factory. Factory 200cu on the TC had the log manifold with single carb and 3 or optioned to 4 speed Borg warner manual gear boxes.

A mate had a TC cortina with 200 plus top loader. Got stolen from outside my place one evening in Lakemba and was ecovered burnt out with rims and top loader missing.
Commenting heard was top loaders in cortinas were usually in near perfect condition and were ideal as replacements for V8 gearboxes.

There was I believe some TC/D XLE Cortina 6's that came with a top loader. 250 or 4.1 though.

They were supplied with shortened shift linkages to accommodate them in the Cortina and a different input shaft (course spline) as opposed to the fine spline for the V8's. I bought one to fit into an XB Falcon 6 I had, damn tough 'box - had to reach long for the shifter.

Not heard of any factory 2V's in Cortinas - could be an oddball possibility.

Cheers!

There where no 200 2 v engines made and the 2502v wouldn't have been a factory option. The toploader would have been an option in a TC because the 4 speed single rail BW was not available until 1974.

I was under the impression 3.3 manuals had a 3 speed, 4.1 manuals had a 4 speed. As said above bw wasn't available so they got top loaders. No cortys had 2v heads fitted factory.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the numbers with ford and they all match but they couldnt provide details on the engine and head. My corti is a 73 XL paint code Q wich is yellow fire
it has the black gs interior, quad head lights, bonnet buldge. The cars first owner worked at ford and thats why im curious about the 2v but digging up information has been really hard.

Here's my Mercury Capri with a 2V head fitted to its 200. I did the conversion and many years ago owned a TC 250 3-speed and a TD 250 auto, neither had 2V heads as NO Cortinas had the 2V head as an option!
