Default Converse+ update

Hi,
has anyone on the forum with an MC had the latest firmware update, the one that gives, among other changes, a visible temp. gauge on the main dash display?
Did the dealer charge for the update?
Did they know about it?

Steve

I asked my dealer (Torque Ford - Brendale) about it last year & was told they knew nothing about it. And although they supposedly looked in to it could find no info.
Will ask again at my next service.

I have an MC 2012 and at the last service I asked about updates to include temp gauge on screen. The service manager hooked up my car but there were no updates available. I asked how that can be as a 2013 vs 2012 mondeo is essentially unchanged except for this firmware update....he called Melbourne but they did not know anything about it. I get my service done at Ford Top Ryde, Sydney. He was not going to charge if there was one.

I asked at a Melbourne Ford dealership a few weeks back. At first the service desk were all a bit suspicious and looked at me like I had 3 heads. Then a passing mechanic mentioned that Ford had recently locked down updates in that dealerships used to be able to search and download all, but now downloads can only occur once the car is plugged in and Ford will advise any allowed updates based on the VIN. Apparently that's all they can do now.
Oh and they wanted $160 to check so I declined.

I just had my 2011 MC at the dealer's (John McGrath, Canberra) to look into a transmission fault. While there I asked them to check for any software updates and cited the HMI.

There were no updates to the Convers+ unit but they did find updates to the PCM, TCM and ABS which they applied. Cost was $145 (charge of 1 hour labour).

My Convers+ is version 1217.

Hard to say.
For the HMI - no, because my Convers+ unit didn't get updated!
For the other work - depends if it prevents a recurrence of my mechanical issue - if it stops again on the highway then I'll know for sure!
