Hi guys;
Just a quick one. I'm installing a 12 Volt socket in the rear of my centre console and have found two screws under the drink holder that need to be removed, is there any think else besides the gear knob that have to be removed. Thanks in advance !! |

2 screws under front mat, 2 screws under cup holder, 2 screws to the floor at the rear.
Yes shifter to needs to be removed.

Shifter doesn't actually need to be removed, just move it to any of D, or 3, 2 or 1 and there's plenty of room to get it over. Removed a console from an AU on Thursday arvo.

Don't forget to snap off the rear light cover and unscrew/push out the light bulb inside, or you might tear the cable when removing the console.
I removed a console on a parts car last night and found $2 and two pens!

If it has a rear footwell light! Forte, Futura and XR didnt come with them!

Hi guy's thanks for the quick reply, My au is the base model forte' so no rear console light, but what about the rear air con regester!!

Register and ducts are attached to the console. It all comes out together.
There is a slip joint at the front for the duct to IP duct interface

Thank all that replyed. The reason why i wanted to remove the centre console was that i wanted to install a 12 Volt merrit socket at the back of console so as to run my engle fridge while we travel down and back to Melbourne.
I had a problem with the console that there was not enough room to fit the socket. Ended up puting the socket in the boot ( will run the power cable from the fridge through the split rear seat). Mounted the socket to a brace bracket under the rear parcell shelf. So thanks every one for your input. |
