Default LIN bus

I thought others on this forum would be interested in finding out about the Mondeo, so I'm posting some stuff I wrote for my own education, based on Ford documentation. In this case, the LIN bus:

In addition to the high speed and medium speed communication system, which operates over two wires, there is a LIN bus on the 2007-2014 Mondeo which works over one wire (using chassis instead of a second wire).

The light switch and the GEM for example communicate with one wire. The light switch is equipped with a semiconductor device or 'LIN control module' which encodes the switch position and sends data to the GEM, which decides if it is OK to go ahead. In the case of a flat battery for example, it may not allow high beam. The LIN bus is not directly accessible via the OBD connector.

List of LIN modules:

Front/rear window wiper motors
Headlamp
Fuel pump module (FPDM) (Not diesels)
Heated windscreen
Heated rear window, heated exterior mirrors
Window washer pump
Headlamp washer pump
Electric booster heater
Instrument cluster
Remote control/tire pressure monitoring receiver module (vehicles without keyless vehicle module only)
Tire pressure monitoring antenna
Yaw rate sensor
Clutch travel sensor
Ignition lock
Stoplamp switch
Fuel level sensor
Accelerator pedal position (APP2) sensor
Backup lamp switch
Multifunction switch
PATS transceiver (vehicles without keyless vehicle module only)
Speed control switch
Windscreen heater switch
Rear window heater switch
Evaporator temperature sensor
Hazard flasher switch
Brake fluid level switch
Light switch module
Light/rain sensor

LIN stands for 'local area interconnect
