2.3 litre petrol Zetec MA mondeo,Thermo fan run very fast after turn engine off . The Thermo fan will run for about 30 seconds then completely turns fans off, which is correct .This is after car running normal speed around country road. These fans fast cool down and run ridiculously fast for 30 or 40 seconds. I not sure at time but after removing foam at top of radiator and take trim rubber around radiator seems to reduce need for fan running fast after engine turned off. I gather for Australia the radiator not big enough for our conditions for radiator very thin . Air cond condenser restrict air flow to much to radiator for fins are very thin. I clean but very few insects on there. It really under cooled. This symptom seem to be normal for it done from when new . The dealer couldn't find any fault code . They agree it did seem strange the Thermo single fan was running fast when I pulled up for service . It be better they had 2 cooling fans or put bigger radiator in.

there's nothing wrong with the setup, except the fanspeed controller being part of the shroud. I drove 620km with my fan failed. Family of 5, boot 1/2 filled 40Deg day. Engine temp stayed where it always is, only the A/C tripped out often from over temp.
Had a new one fitted at the Holiday destination and it's much quieter when in use, I don't even notice it running most of the time unless it's doing a dpf regen. Other than that I don't notice high speeds of any sort. Now thinking about it perhaps when the AC is on at shut down (which I don't usually do). |
