If the money was from the corporate world, the ATO and AUSTRAC would have been onto him like nobody's business.
The fact that both of these organisations have been deathly silent is an indicator that the money came from govco or one of its subsidiaries. They love grandstanding and boasting about their successes.

Pretty weird. Surely someone is not so dumb to put that amount of money in any account unless it was legit but at the same time it sounds like it has been parked there.

I read this morning somewhere he was broke and made it all up, thinking that if he said he had lots of money he would get bail, because no one with large amount of money skip. If he said he was broke he figured he would not get bail, so he made it all up and faked his bank account etc from details he found on the WWW. In his REAL bank account he had $42.
