People make a big deal about all this stuff but it's bugger all, as the emissions are bloody good truth be told it's just they are so stringent nowadays to comply with such.

People running cars on 91 octane in cars made from 2010 could be polluting way more than they should be in fact.

Sure it says you can run 91 octane but it should be running on 95 octane for it to perform correctly at it's optimum.

If an engine has to retard the spark timing map, fuel is just being wasted and the emissions will be higher.

Australia was to of got rid of 91 octane back in 2010 or so I believe as ALP Gillard Gov put an holt to that if I remember correctly.

I remember that Holden's last 5.0L V8's were designed to run 95 octane in 1997 but they coped a back lash because of it and Holden came out and just said 91 is fine, but the fact is the bloody engines spark timing was compromised if you ran 91 it was ok on cold days taking it easy but on a hot day or if you drove it hard the bloody engine would retard the spark timing that much that you lost a hell of a lot of performance and all that wasted fuel is maybe being burned in the cat but the latest new Emission laws goes beyond just that point.

I love this bit from the article. I had no idea they had problems with fuel tanks falling off!

Mitsubishi Motors struggled for years to win back consumer trust after a car defects scandal in the early 2000s over cover-ups of problems such as failing brakes, faulty clutches and fuel tanks prone to falling off.

Yeah, I felt bad about it, sorry mate, but it was intended as a tongue-in-cheek joke. I should have put a or something

Sorry mate.

I have since searched though and found the diesel Outlander received some stellar reviews, by no-one, ever.

Wait till you see the new Challenger, called a Pajero Sport. The rear end looks like it was designed by a blind ex Ssangyong designer, with the design brief to copy Volvo.

At least Mitsubishi found the problem themselves internally and made it public. Kudos to them. VW tried to fool everyone.

We had Spanish speaking neighbours for awhile who always found another neighbours Pajero amusing. Heres a link to the definition of Pajero.

Hello,

In the past they covered things up rather than recall, most makers have done this. Never been fond of Mitsubishi, after having an early Magna as a work Car. But, they have built Cars and 4 x's that win rallies. I had a TD Triton, it was great. Work Car, but it ticked most of the boxes for me. Only problem was a " surge " noise it made. A mate knew when I drove past his house !

So what's wrong with it Damo good buddy, how can it be worse to the out going one.

A mate has the new Triton extra cab looks a bloody top idea to me, you can get your gear out just so easily that you don't want to put in the back due to theft, so that's one thing that it's got going for it above the others, I know it does not drive like the Ford Mazda.

Another mate has the new Colorado what a s box that is compared too the new Triton I thought.

Always thought the last of the Magnas were solid, good cars (and 380 from what workmates said, and spent their cash on). The Lancer seems to get a good write up for reliability as well. Pajero like a Cruiser, but with more flimsy feeling new.
Just never get the short straw and get to sit on the back seat in a Triton for a long trip...

Hello,

The Triton had the largest back seat area, or at least used to in its class. Havnt tried newer stuff to compare, but you could fit adults in comfort without having to move the front seats forward in the one I had.

We were given a brand new 2015 Mirage and you are right, it's a handling and performance disaster. I can't believe the engineers signed off a car that handles this badly. And the 3 cylinder engine with CVT trans, it's just plain dangerous. Our 01 Ka absolutely kills it dynamically.

Getting back into the G6ET is an astoundingly good experience!
