Default Mk1 Escort Paint Code

Gday all

I've got a 72 Mk1 Escort 2 door that I'm in the process of restoring. The car has been resprayed Red (rather poorly) at some stage in it's life, but the original colour is a Bright Lime Green.

Paint code on the ID tag is 'T', but the code lists that i've found suggest the car should be a completely different colour.

Does anyone have any info or can point me in the right direction? Any other info about the ID tag would be appreciated

Cheers

Thats Lime Glaze. Ford swapped and changed paint codes around from year to year. Its not unusual for cars with the same paint to have different paint codes as new paint colours were added each year of production and others were dropped.

Just found some info on a falcon site and it shows 2 separate paint codes for Lime Glaze. One is T the other is Y396.
The only reason I can come up with for this is that customers wand their new car in older (previous year colours) and paint codes had to be allocated to these older colours.
Line Glaze was available in Capris but not until 72 from memory.
Im thinking of painting my Mk 1 Escort this colour because it reminds me of the UK colour Lemans Green that was popular with the Mexicos.

Awesome, thanks for the info Whooligan. I was getting concerned that one of the previous owners had done the dodgy and grabbed an ID plate off another car...

I actually quite like the original colour, but considering going more Focus RS Green rather than the original Lime. Not sure yet though, got way too much work to do before I can even think about choosing the final colour!

Cheers
