What is the optimum oil temp for a street driven car?
I'm reading that it should be between 100-120 C however mine is always sitting somewhere between 80-95 (according to those ODB2 apps). Is that normal? |

That temp is fine (& normal). Will obviously increase a bit when you give it a good workout.... which is when the oil temp becomes more critical.

the oil is ultimately cooled by the coolant. In normal driving the coolant should be ~80-90C so if your oil is ~5C hotter than that it's fine. When you give it some grief, anything under about 140C should be okay.

The coolant usually hits 100 then drops back to about 95 and sits there. The oil has never touched 100.
