wow, it sounds like you boys are passionate about your old skool muscle. I actually would have thought there would have been more voting for the lane rather than the XE, but as most of you have already mentioned, I know the history of the XE and the way it has been treated. Im leaning toward the XE mainly because its been in the family for so long and I have seen its progression and it would be a crying shame to see it go to some one who doesnt know the senitmentality of it.
The lane would still be nice, but as mentioned earlier I CANT get 2 cars, the mrs just doesnt understand, but she does understand the reasons why I'd want the XE purely for the above facts. Plus there is nothing like a tough sounding clevo cruising around in a car that you wouldnt normally see too often these days.

if your not allowed to have both because of the cost involved, then buy the XE and an NL Fairlane, should work out near enough to the 20k your gonna spend on the AU Fairlane anyway, then you have both a comfy daily crusier and a weekend warrior.

Standard redbook valuations of BA Fairmont Ghias are now start in the $19,000 dollar region. V8's at $21k.. I personally would proberly choose one of those over either the XE or the AU 'lane.
$10k for a XE sounds a bit much (even for one as discribed). But if your attached to it, it may mean heart overrules head. Buy what will make you most happy. |

I'd say the XE... and it is cheaper!!
BUT what about the abuse that happens to cars that are driven daily? Keyed, carpark dings, etc... Can you live with that??

XE Ghia front looks a million times tougher than any XF front will ever look. And what a coincidence, I have a spare one!

For those who were interested, I have a couple of old photos of the XE-F of my cousins. They are only external shots, and it has changed a bit since these photos were taken.
Differences are: - The paint job in the photos is the first one before he got it resprayed. - custom number plates - lower ride height - no ghia badges - no chrome garnish to boot - different tail pipe - colour coded XF tail lights So if you can imagine what it looks like with the above differences, thats is what it looks like today. A bit boring with those rims, but inconspicuous until you hear it! :hihi: If I was to get it, new 17's or 18's would be first on the list of things to change as well as power steering. It essentially is clean and the money is well spent on the driveline, however, I dont think I'd be paying the 10k my cousin is asking for. Sorry for the pic quality too. I had to scan the images. Let me know opinions. Please post positive, constructive thoughts.
