I was driving a Mondoe outside Armidale 2 years ago and big red jumped out infront of the car, I was on 110km/h, missed him by a bee's dick, he was 6'5 all muscle. Car would have been a write off for sure if he was a bit slower or I had not hit the anchors. I had my two boys in the back seat.

Heck it has given me a blown 500hp car that I can sit on the highway at 110 and get 10l/100. It's bloody marvelous.

What I don't like is marketing fluff that drives up the prices of cars for no reason.

Kangaroo avoidance is one of those. As has been said a few times in this thread, you cannot predict a kangaroos movements. I've had one turn around and run flat out into the side of my car when it was stopped.
I have a pet Blue Kangaroo who lives in a paddock, I won't have him around the house because I don't want him running into that when the cat spooks him.
That's how stupid they can get.

I own a Volvo that is crammed full of tech, If I didn't like it I wouldn't have bought it. On the other hand I'm not happy about them spending money on ideas like this that won't work and at the end of the day I'm paying for.
I would much prefer to see Volvo go back to spending these $$ on cabin protection again.

I'm also against the fact that idiots out there will try and use it, simply because it's there and marketed.

The best method of avoiding roos is to slowly and safely bring your car to a stop (if required) while staying in a straight line. A good lighting system (are you listening Volvo) and a very vigilant scanning of the roadside.
And slow down! There are times when they're impossible to avoid.
