If a car has no door keyhole, is it unroadworthy? Looking to buy an AU which has had a door repaired after an accident but (it was stated) that the lock could not be refitted. The keyless remotes both work. Very strange situation, yet the car is up to date re service book and drives beautifully, but would it fail a roadworthy if there is no keylock?

The lock in the door handle on an AU. They have fitted a rear door handle.
Just put another door handle in it. Problem solved. |

It has the hole, but no lock, the guy was told the lock could not be fitted. Its the right handle just a hole where the lock should have been fitted.

Just had a glance over a VICroads pdf, no mention of door locks specifically, only references to latches & handles.
So as long as the door is secured when shut & able to be opened from inside, then it should pass. If the inspector approaches the vehicle & uses the remote, they likely wouldn't notice the lack of a small lock. People have done lock deletes before anyway, for street machines & such. |

Had a chat with my mechanic today, he said no issue with having no lock, as Spurious said it doesn't effect the remotes ability to open and lock the car.
