I always take the bar off mate, you can get an extension bar in thru the reinfornicing but I couldn't see any other way to get to the lower bolt

to remove the bumper, you need a ratchet 13mm spanner or a deep 1/4 drive socket with a swivel ratchet,,, Undo the inner splash guards and then maybe 2 inches in from the wheel arch is a nut and bolt ( being that the bolt is on the bar, so you only need to remove the nut)
You''ll also need to remove the splash guard under the front of the car to,, It is about 10 or so 8mm (iirc) bolts and a couple of phillips headed screws

I replaced my headlights on my AU ute ... and I have the non-XR headlights ... wasn't too hard to swap over ... just need one of those small ratchet spanners to get to the bolt under the headlight ... that was the hardest part ... ie: 1 minute to remove bolt.
Just take the grille out ... which you need to anyway ... makes it easier. takes a little bit of wigglnig to get the headlight out ... but that's all. Nothing too hard about it ... have done it twice actually ... no need for dropping the front bar.
