Default Ford Capri GT Mk1 radio cassette

Hi guys it's been a while since I visited this forum, I am wanting to know if the Aussie GT Capri had a factory option for a radio cassette deck ? I managed to find the original radio , but I am wanting a radio cassette if they came out with them? Any help appreciated

My Wife had a mk1 Capri GT which she bought new in 1970 , from memory this is well before the Compact Cassette deck became available in Australian cars as it certainly wasn't available as an option that I can remember as she ticked all the option boxes on the order form -- not very many options back in those days , I bought a XY GT in 1971 and this was equipped with an 8 track player which was made into a pretty big deal by the dealer and was more expensive than a factory Sunroof , it was pretty useless as buying music for it was almost non existent .

Thanks guys I'm confused now ,10 yrs there was an article on a WA plum gt Capri V6 the owner was racing car driver and through out the rebuild he was in search of an original am/fm radio cassette and he managed to find one ?? But I'm not sure wether it was an option or not now , I know the 1969-71 Capri ,s never had the option, but I wonder if the '72 gtv6 Capri had that option?

I think you will find that Cassette players didn't become available in Australian cars till the mid seventies , in 1971 a standard radio was still an option in most cars .
The XA GT Falcon had an option of the 8 track cassette player , the XB Falcon had the option of a cassette player .

the XB Falcon had the option of a cassette player
... and my father had this fitted to his XB 302-4spd GS when new. From memory it fitted the standard overall gap, and had an escutcheon plate that looked fairly normal for 2 knob radio with centre dial/button area. Possible almost-period fitment for Capri, although not ridgy-didge.
