G'day all.
I've got a cluster from an AU1 wagon... that's I'd like to be able to power on, so I know how many kms are on the odo. Anyone know how? I've tried looking at schematics but couldn't work it out Thanks! |

Haven't tried, but workshop manual on here says:
J2 pin 1 = Power Ground J2 pin 20 = Battery I'll see if I can try tonight. Got on old low series clusters that is no loss of it goes pop

I also have a cluster I have been wanting to power on to verify the KM's on it.
I can locate the connector as their is only one 20 pin connector. But which Pin is Pin 1 and which is Pin 20. There are no numbers on the plastic connector to indicate where Pin 1 is.

So just the J2 connector needs to be connected to read km's.
My preference would be the swap clusters on a car given how easy it is to do. The pin out diagrams are in the workshop manual, which is on here under tech resources. For series 2 clusters you need to connect: J2 pin 1 - Power ground J2 pin 2 - Signal ground J2 pin 20 - Battery For Series 1 this does not work, due to the cluster needing to be on with ignition to read km's. Connecting in J2 pin 4 - ignition, didn't work. So ill try to do some more diagnosing this week

Id wager a guess at J2, pin 19, but its 8.2v. If i knew where my old cluster was id try it.
Use a 9v battery on j2 p2 (ground/neg) and j2 p19 (postive).

Ah ok. I could see 8.2v but wasnt saying where it was coming from/ going to.
Wait, isnt P17 to the transducer?

Pin 17 is speed input from the transducer.
Spedo transducer is standard 3 pin sensor. Power and Ground go in, signal comes out. All of these come from/to the cluster Then you also have speed out from cluster to ECU (pin 18)

Good thing I'm still looking for my cluster and didnt use a 9v on it yet then.
Id highly doubt its pulking power from the parkers, i have an s3 cluster in my s1, but im fairly certain the odometer turns off with the key out. Cant think of many wires it could be on though
