Default Au fuel pump replacement

Anybody had experience, good or bad with a VDO fuel pump for AU 3 ?

I intend to buy the best pump available and am wary of the fakes that are about which seem to give all sorts of problems.

thanks

One more question, It seems that guys that go with the recommended Walbro fuel pumps are actually switching the Walbro pump & Motor into the Ford plastic housing. Is that right? Walbro do not sell a complete replacement for the stock ford unit?

I've had the VDO pump installed for a few months, no issues at all. Car felt much better, but my old pump was tired

Thanks for the feedback Ken. I have now replaced with a VDO my no brand pump which only lasted a few hours running before the valve that keeps the pressure in the line failed.

What this does is slow or stop the engine from starting as the line should have 40 PSI as soon as the ignition is turned on.

Auto Trash & Treasure have Genuine Ford assy for $109.00 these have the upgraded pumps for the 220 & 250 - worth grabbing these as spares

Note: The VDO ones are no good for the 220 & 250 they are std pumps
