Default xr6t exhaust on N/A xr6

Hey everyone,

Im looking at getting a xr6t exhaust with the y piece for my N/a xr6.

Im just wondering whether this will give me more power. i haven't done any other mods, except for the f6 intake and the xr8 upper snorkel.

im also wondering, will there be any difference in sound to what i have now when cruising at a steady speed?

thankss

Aftermarket muffler, resonator and high flow cat would be better.

i did this exactly to my BA XR6. didnt even waste money on a new y peice. the XR6T exhaust has one. weld your stock exhaust after the cat to the front of the T Y peice. makes it louder.. nice sound when you boot it, slight rumble when idle.. and wont **** your parents or your neighbours off.

power wise.. same same down low. gained up high

Why put a old exhaust system on your car? Looks like he has a ba/bf..

The setup I put on my AU didn't cost that much.. $350..

thanks for the replies guys.

i know i can get a aftermarket exhaust, but i want to keep the car as stock as possible, and i dont want it to be too loud. i know with the xr6t exhuast, its not as loud as an after market, but it does the job, and im sure i can pick one up for a cheap price

seduced_xr, did the exhaust give you more power by any chance?

I gained power from bottom to top of the rev range although not as much download as up high. Sounded awesome, NO DRONE, it doesn't sound like a VT with a cannon and they're high quality parts that aren't going to rust though in 2 years and you'll probably find the system for $0 - gtfpv gave me his of his GT like 3 years ago (Thank you very much!)

You can just get an XR8/GT system from the Y-pipe back and then have the exhaust shop weld up a 3in pipe from the extractors to the cat

I am resurrecting this thread from the dead. Need all the help I can get. Ive got a bf2 xr6 that I'm keen to exhaust swap out from the catback turbo onto my na. Problem is my cat is quite rusty looking on the outside and potenially could be stuffed but I'm not too sure. I do know that the pipe from the cat is quite rusted and holey which is why I'm keen to get a new exhaust as it sounds ****. Being out of a job sucks as I'd consider something like an xforce etc, but I'm told a factory turbo exhaust modified will increase power and add an extra bit of grunt. So what I'm keen to know is if anyone have a system lying around that they no longer need in good nick pm me, if anyone knows a good shop who can fabricate the y piece for the twin pipe outlet in MELBOURNE , and how much will it cost roughly.

i was in a rush before to write that post. I need all the advice I can get on this to know properly what will be required to get this mod done, I've been scanning around looking at what people have for sale, but most exhaust systems are interstate. I did stumble across an typhoon exhaust but it is in queensland I and i'm not going to bother trying to get it here. I've been told theres also 2 oxygen sensors with one before the cat, and one after it, how do I go about fitment if I get a turbo exhaust, does it need to be moved? Assuming shop would have it covered??? Also another question before I forget, does it matter whether or not I get a system from a ba/bf turbo or does it have to be bf specific, and could it also be from a typhoon, gt or xr8 aswell, not turbo specific?

What I'd like to know is who has done this mod? Do you have any videos to show me? Am I wasting my time with this mod? Is there anything else that's better on the cheap side of things?

Cheers Nick

If you can only find a catback, then either BA or BF system will need a fabricated merge section. The catback can come from either an XR6T or XR8 however. If you can find a complete turbo back exhaust, the BA still needs a merge as it is twin pipe straight from the factory cat. A BF turboback however splits behind the factory cat and ahead of the 2 bends into the start of the cat back. This system can probably be fitted just by cutting back to length and welding new flanges.

Is there any added advantage getting the complete exhaust system opposed to just the catback? I'm not too mechanically minded so I'd stick to my limited knowledge and just opt for a simple catback that will need a y piece welded on. Im very curious to know what the difference in sound will be with the exhaust since mines rusted and rattles lol, ive seen a video with an fg swapping on a turbo exhaust but cant really tell them too much apart, but it is slightly deeper.

Oh and message me if you have a system lying around, located in northern suburbs of Melbourne

If my car can end up sounding like this, i'm keen on it, love the start up sound.

What would be needed to put this system onto my car, fellow forum member messaged me about it but i'm still tossing up different options in the time i have until i can get a job, couldnt this just be bolted straight on, or do i need to merge it with my cat converter, if so i may need a new cat converter then. Exhaust is off a bf 2 xr6 turbo, mines a bf 2 xr6 na. It already has a merge piece so i believe that comes in as a bonus?

Easiest way is to cut both systems behind the cat and fit flanges where appropriate. Won't bolt straight onto anything but a turbo of course.
