That's a poor cheap heat exchanger issue ... not caused by the transmission itself ... under the impression the same poor design heat exchanger is still in use though.

I'm just saying that ZF probably gave the specifications of what type of transmission cooler needed to be used and that it's falling causing the gearbox to fail is a design issue.

My comment is Just cause it is built in China doesn't mean it's going to be any less quality. With everything going to China, India, etc, I'm sure they will produce good quality goods.

For every job, there are 1000 people waiting in line. Stuff ups will be far less tolerated (parent company would come down on them pretty hard).

Funnily enough when I changed the heat exchanger many moons ago in my BF F6 to a larger BF R-Spec unit it was branded KTM, as in the cooler subsidiary of Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM.

Old thread I know, but a few details I notice in my FGX compared to my old 09 FG:

Digital speedo unit has gone SI, now in km/h instead of km/hr
Little green cruise control light when cruise is active
Radio Station / Audio Detail no longer an option to show in the Cluster centre screen
Cruise control set speed flashes when you accelerate above set speed
Cruise set speed takes over screen when being set
Climate details on cluster centre screen (on / off / mode)
Unable to turn off feature where radio plays until door is open (after turning off car)
Unable to switch off camera when lag option is selected and in drive, unless putting in park or exceeding 12km/h
No more sun glasses holder
Sun visors are vinyl vs. Suede in my old FPV
Bottom of door trims and kick panels are plastic vs. Suede in old FPV
Audio sound quality is better than FG, more bass out of sub, but volume doesn't go high enough, especially for the digital radio

Yes- and from first hand experience can tell you that it works. Pretty weird- after just having a major hit and after all the energy is dissipated and you come to a stop- sitting there in shock to suddenly have emergency services call you through the radio...and they knowing where you are and then drilling you for information- injuries- traffic dangers etc etc.

I can imagine if you were by yourself in a serious accident somewhere remote and trapped- this would be a major major peace of mind to you.

Ford get top marks for this - do all FGX cars get it?

First I've heard of this one.

How do "Emergency Services" manage to call you when your car isn't fitted with two-way radio?

And SYNC actually does the dial out ... and provides the location of the vehicle from the Navigation system. Also when it notifies the emergency services it has an automated message it tells them.

It's all in the SYNC 2 information pack provided with the vehicle.

This is the same for SZII Territory models.

As MR Cranium above mentioned ... must have phone Synced .... also also ... must have emergency assistance turned on as well (as you can disable it if you wish)

Just to add a bit more information to the discussion on the Emergency Assistance function, the paired phone is used to call 000 when the car detects that an airbag is deployed or the fuel shut off valve is actuated.

A very handy feature and one that sounds like it actually works well in a real world situation thanks to asagaai's experiments

Poor grammar does the same, but anyway, the answer is in post 28 in this thread:

I have no time fecking around with sync 2 - hardly touched it since the salesmen showed me how to this and that - I have more enjoyment from the drive and sound that's what I'm synced to

If you look at the way the corner is angled/rounded off, you can see it's deliberate.

Probably easier in the production environment to have something deliberately misaligned (where the variation in position from car to car is less noticeable, compared to having something aligned, where a 0.2mm variance will stand out like male canine genitals.

Using the chamfered & overlapping edges is also a clever trick to hide the fact that production tolerances can't be tight enough for a perfect fit on every occasion too.

The console sides, console insert, ICC, ICC cover, dash spears and many more parts all use this to great effect. The VE Commodore dash also uses this concept extensively. It's very hard to pick a misalignment when you have 2 chamfered surfaces meeting (like the FG console side trims) compared to flat items.

The wiper arms are cheap as, next time you need new wiper blades on your FG just get the whole FG-X arms from a Ford dealer, they are pretty cheap too.

You dont need to change the arms of FG to use the FGX blades. They just clip on the existing arm. I'm using the FGX blades from Ford for the GTF and the G6E. Work a treat.

I like them better than some of the aftermarket ones as they are more flush in the way they mount

The arms are better too though on the FG-X and don't lift off the screen like the BF and FG ones do etc.

Could have sworn this is an option in my FGX G6ET. it's in the dash settings from memory.

Another feature that has disappeared between FG and FGX is the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the auto/on and auto/off of the automatic headlights (not that the settings made much of a difference anyway, but still a nitty gritty)

How do you do that? By FG, do you mean FG 1? I can't see that setting in FG2

Yeah my FG1 had it, could be found in the ICC settings. Don't know about FG2, only ever driven one as a hire car, but definitely non-existent on my FGX
