I loved it mate, did not miss a ball. It bastardises the 50 over game a bit but as Smith said as long as it is used as a "warm up" to the 50 over stuff then it is fantastic. Batting first is a massive advantage though, especially if you are Australia.

would be good to see Brett Lee cut loose a bit in a game like that... with the sixes he hit in england and against the WI (i think - where he hit it out of the gabba?) - would have been cool

definately on the 'must attend' list for the next one in QLD

Went to the WA-Vic 20-20 on friday night. So much fun. Ill probly go again some time. Didnt watch much of it tonight. Found out who won before hand and didnt get home in time.

I want to see Lee in the side next time. He could basically be one of the best all rounders for that style if he plays well.

I thought the commentators talking to the captains on the field was bloody cool. Much like Bathurst when the speak to the drivers when behind a safety car.

Don't know why some people give Graeme Smith (sp) such a hard time, seems like a top bloke.

Went to the match and it was AWESOME!!! Huuge atmosphere and big hits! Seemed like SAF didnt have their heart in it though with some of the soft fielding... And puts99, everyone gave Graeme Smith a hard time cause he's not playing for Australia and its the thing to do!!! Plus he cant catch hahahaha!!!

I don't think they're going to overdo them because they'll loose their appeal if that happens. I kind of agree with them. It'd be like have a 'State of Origin' every month - wouldn't have the same impact.

But yeah - freeking awesome

40,000-odd people in the stands shows how popular it was .... largest Gabba crowd on record too.

I missed most of the Australian innings (bugger) ... but was still awesome watching it though .... also lked the commentary with the captains out on the field ... was excellent.

Default Re: Twenty 20 Cricket

A decade later and what inroads the 20 over game has made!

I remember the buzz in the early 1980s when the World Series created a big stir and shook up the establishment. Well this has taken cricket to a whole new level.

The BBL is very entertaining to watch with hardly any poor games to see this season. The BBL is achieving similar scores in 20 overs to what the 50 overs game was achieving back in the 1980s.

One thing the 20 over game has done is made batsmen less gun shy - look at the recent test where a century was score before lunch on the first day. And not including days lost due to rain or poor light, in recent years there seem to be less test matches ending up as a draw.

Cricket used to be a slow game. No longer the case.
