Boutique bike & safety gear doesn't make you a better rider, back to rider school for old mate. He is certainly lucky, I've seen worse injuries for lesser crashes. Oh well, old mate in the ute can deliver his new friends Duke to Frasers for repairs now doh!

Not having rode anything more than a scooter, Can bikes just not pull up in that distance?

They can. He could have, had he been paying attention just up ahead.
Seems like he wanted to change lanes and then got distracted looking up ahead in to the other lane.

I read the title as a strange request from a cyclist. The video is much more entertaining. One of my ex colleges was a cycling nut. Some bloke on some forum was cycling from Perth to sydney and James offered him a room for him and his bike. Atleast his saddle bags weren't full of knives.
