Default Engine Malfunction light and P2033 code

Ran over a roo carcass on the way home from work this morning. Engine malfunction lamp came up about 30 min/45 km later. Pulled over and checked the vitals. All looked ok so I continued home 45km further in limp mode. Plugged eds scan tool in and got code P2033 which is an exhaust sensor.

Hoping its just a loose plug, and I will run out up on some ramps after a sleep. Has anyone else had trouble with this?

Cheers

Found the problem - looks like some sore of temperature probe. Now to try to find a replacement.....

looks like the wire has been disconnected from the sensor, so maybe you could just join/solder it back?

Bloody roos!. I've glad to hear I'm not the only one to run over a dead one. It made a fair mess of my mrs little Peugeot 206.

So after a couple of hours on google and ebay and then visits to the local auto parts stores it turned out Ford have two in stock in Canberra and will do it for trade for $105. Should have the part tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that's all it needs and I can clear the code myself.

If you have been watching the (non existent) tv ads for Mondeo you will see you are not supposed to run over dead kangaroos.

Perhaps a Mad Max addition to the underbelly?

This was the last Mondeo Ad on Australian TV (from Sept 2016 - release of Sync 3); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyUcQX5a1aw

Ground clearance. The temp send cable is obvious if you take a look.

Aside from that, mine has bent diesel fuel cooler.

Question Re: Engine Malfunction light and P2033 code

Part arrived the next day, due to the crappy weather only got to put it in on Sunday. Seems to work fine but haven't had a long drive with it yet. Tonight's trip to work will test it.

The sensors are quite exposed on the dpf. Could do with some sort of shield but that may cause heat issues.

I also brought out my lighting "A" game and replaced my light bar with some 7 inch led driving lights. Should happily turn night into day....

that bar for your lights isn't ADR compliant cause it blocks vision from above. Not been pulled over for it?

No issues - it is a commercially available bar from any auto parts store, had them on a couple of cars now and never had a problem
