He pretty much started it all, was so influential (buddy holly included). I'm a fan of his music and thought he had already passed yonks ago - made it to 90 having lived that life!

So many guitarists, especially making a name for themselves in the 60/70's, all admired or were inspired by Chuck Berry.

The term legend often gets overused but in the case of Chuck Berry it doesn't even come close to describing the influence this man and his music had on the evolution of rock music. A stellar career...

Cheers
Russ

Yes, the music world is now a lesser place.

I consider myself lucky to have grown up during the 1950's, and listening to the radio was all there was. ( I had no TV until 1960 ).

Chuck Berry was the main driver of what we now know as rock and roll. But he was assisted by Bill Haley and the man who really influenced Buddy Holley, Bo Didley. A great live entertainer who did not seek the limelight.

^ Looks like I'm not the only one struggling to get Youtube vids embedded.

I always loved that AC/DC gave a big nod to Chuck

I couldn't agree more. He influenced more people than anyone could imagine, a lot of those have already passed. His songs are timeless and I still play JBG at work at least once a week.
