This is one of the few forums where videos cannot be embedded. Maybe when this forum was created in 2004 it was the correct decision at that time. But it is now 2016. Any chance of this ever being changed?

It's not that we don't allow it (I couldn't care either way) but vb 3.8.x doesn't support embedded video. You can, however, embed YouTube video using the yt /yt tags like the one below:
.. the only thing that goes between the tags is the YouTube Video ID. Cheers Russ

I can also add other media sources by creating additional BB Code tags to suit. Vbulletin does support the movie tag but we have that disabled as it allows malicious code to be embedded.

Just use the portion of the URL after the "=" in the youtube URL between the [ yt ] [ /yt ] tags.

I just tried inserting a random Youtube video in a test post and it is working perfectly in preview mode.
Are you sure you are just copying and pasting the Youtube link portion AFTER the "=" between the tags ? |
