Default Australia's Best Driver's Car

https://www.carsales.com.au/editoria...rights-107325/

These 0-100km/h times were done on a drag strip in dry conditions.
I would be embarrassed to print these times if that was all I could manage after numerous attempts.
Something doesn't seem right.

0-400m: 15.282sec @ 146.113km/h

0-100km/h: 7.701sec
0-400m: 14.542sec @ 167.076km/h

9th – Ford Focus RS
0-100km/h: 6.211sec
0-400m: 13.233sec @ 170.195km/h

8th – HSV GTSR W1
0-100km/h: 5.972sec
0-400m: 12.450sec @ 194.227km/h

7th – BMW M140i Performance Edition
0-100km/h: 5.781sec
0-400m: 13.140@ 175.603km/h

6th – Porsche Cayman S
0-100km/h: 5.473sec
0-400m: 12.35sec @ 193.020km/h

5th – BMW M3 Competition
0-100km/h: 5.102sec
0-400m : 12.225 @ 193.079km/h

4th – Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC
0-100km/h: 5.084sec
0-400m: 12.567sec @ 174.454km/h

3rd – Audi S5
0-100km/h: 5.048sec
0-400m: 12.687sec @ 173.460km/h

2nd – Alfa Romeo Giulia QV
0-100km/h: 4.835sec
0-400m: 12.409sec @ 192.223km/h

1st – Nissan GT-R
0-100km/h: 3.919sec
0-400m: 11.236sec @ 197.767km/h

G'day. How come the W1 is 8th ? Not run in yet or something or awful launch
Should be at least 4.9-5.0 seconds and over 200 clicks , not nearly 6 seconds and 194 . You are right.
Something definitely no right there for W1 at least or a bad one off run otherwise HSV would be severely embarrassed.
No surprise the Nissan GTR was N0. 1 though.
Cheers Rod.

The Receptionist who usually does the 1/4 mile runs was on holiday in Bali, so they got the work experience kid to do it.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

To be fair, it looks like most, if not all, of the cars didn't get near their potential.

Those times are terrible but the GT-R is a clear winner regardless.

Oh my god those times are terrible some them were almost two seconds off the manufacturers claim. Golf Gti 40th Edition has been clocked by several magazines at 5.9 sec but these guys only got to a 100 in 7.7 sec, wtf. None of those times make sense.

The article outlines what happened with each car.
Driver was Luke Youlden.

Yep and fair nuff.
Lots of factors in play for a "best time"
What you see is what you get. Same track, same day , same driver.
It's what we all know anyways... some of the cars have too much grunt for their own good

Ok I have a very abstract theory
Is it possible that cars with launch control do NOT expect that much grip. And when the forces load up because it has a ton of grip it wasn't expecting they bog themselves down momentarily ?

And on a side note really impressed by the Audi S5. The new RS5 is going to be a monster based on the S5 running 12.68 QTRs.

Must have been a terrible launch in the W1, did nearly 6 secs to 100 and yet still managed a 12.45
