My old auto ute pulled 171 just with zorst done.(full twin 2.5")
I like how most people who are putting down the 220 havent owned one, when I was test driving the BA's first took a 6 then took a 220 there is no comparsion the V8 ruled period... but then I traded the ute in and brought a 4cyl 6 speed and IMHO its a way better car!(espes on hip pocket)

After driving a couple of Fairmonts (one a Ghia), I'd definately go a Ghia over an XR8.

XR8 has nothing on the luxuries the Ghia has. Shame you can't get it in manual, but I can live with that when there's Simpsons playing in the center LCD!

Thats why you get the Ghia Luxury pack for $4500 extra on the XR8 and a set of reversing sensors!

I love the look of the fairmont ghias, always have. With the fairmont, i hate the look of the chrome headlights, and the ugly wheels.. and it looks like a futura from behind.. just a personal opinion... but i think the ghia is a better package, even if the fairmont ghia's have the worst depreciation.

I think with the Fairmont Even if you do option a V8 17 inch wheels are apparently mandatory, which in effect means the sports IRS is also mandatory but I have seen a few in the V8 with the standard 16s so who knows!

The bigger wheels are a must tho, they finish the Fairmont off a bit better :

Another very good option atm if Climate control isnt important would be the BA Mark II SR V8, which obviously comes with the V8, Body Kit, 17s, Spoiler, Sports Interior, Six Stacker, Full Power Windows, Leather Sports wheel and also the Sports IRS. :
I agree, it shits me when you get an awesome colour and see it on all the XTs! I think Shockwave should have been a special colour like Phantom and Blueprint, for XRs/FPV only.... its such a nice colour, why cheapen it IMO?

And yes, bigger wheels are a must on any Fairmont (he has 15s on his current one LOL).

Actually, its funny you mentioned the SR V8... he was looking at that the other day. But being an old dude, he LOVES his climate control so that might be a no go... personally, theres other things Id rather have, but he likes what he likes... LOL

Yep, Mr Sparkle actually send me some pickles links last week, and youre right, there are some good bargains on there!!! There was a nice black Fairmont Ghia V8 on there for low $30K, which was repossessed!

And yes, the depreciation on those things is a killer, much better to pick one up after its lost a chunk of its value!

There are demo XR8 Sedans being advertised in QLD with the luxury pack for $44,500, thats with leather, dual zone climate control, premium sound, 18" alloys, and a few other options. The one for this price is in Purple, 04 plate with around 8000 kms, but is a good buy.
