Hello all
I am a proud new owner of a used MA Mondeo TDCi 2007. The car has done 150k and is in a good condition (the previous owner took good care of the car). After the purchase I am convinced that I have made the right choice as the car is really economic and powerful. I have a few questions from reading this forum (and other forums): - Is Bluetooth an accessory? The Sony head unit comes equipped with the telephone buttons but these do not work. I read somewhere that this is because voice recognition and Bluetooth are not installed. Is this the case? - The Mondeo doesn't automatically central-lock after the car starts driving (a feature I found in many cars). Is automatic central locking not available in this model? - A few people commented on the jerky gear changes and suggested that buyers should go to Ford dealerships to get software updates. Should I check with Ford regarding this? - The fuel cover doesn't lock after I locked my car. My mechanic said this function isn't available (which I found strange). The manual said otherwise, but I found a few online comments saying the fuel cover isn't available in their Mondeos. Thank you for your time and I look forward to reading the responses. Also any tips & tricks for caring for my new car would be greatly appreciated! Last edited by megabytez; 19-10-2017 at 02:50 PM. |

Congrats on your purchase, it's a great vehicle Tardis like and holds the road extremely well as you'll come to see.
- Bt wasn't standard on some trim levels and needed to be spec'd if you wanted it, if you went into the menu and can see the Bt pairing section then you'd have the Bt module. A phone will need to be paired in order to use it. Do you have Convers+ in your dash? (led screen not the mono red led kind) - Not sure there's a secure driving feature unfortunately, you can flip the top bit of the internal door handle to lock all doors from the drivers door. - First step would be to flush the trans fluid and go form there, I found it mad a nice change in my MB. I did a tute on it in another thread. As for Ford they can be as useful as a doorstop and A-Don't have the foggiest of ideas to achieve the job getting done or B- A clue how to get access to anything software wise from my experience. - I can't say if it's broken or never had it, when my vehicle is locked I can't open the fuel cover, only when it's unlocked can I push to open it. Perhaps it's a trim level again. If you'd like to know exactly what is spec'd for the vehicle private message me your VIN and I'll post back what it has. Tips: Follow me home lights are great Global opening&closing windows are fantastic in general, press and hold unlock on the fob till they open, press and hold lock to close all windows. -may need to operate all windows full open/close to set limits if not done or battery removed. Deadlock feature, double press the lock on the fob for that. I can't just flip up the wiper arms to change blades, I need to put them into service mode, my arms would hit the bonnet and not allow access. - Key off and quickly hold wiper control arm down to get the arms to move half up the screen into service mode. If you get the service light come up (to service the vehicle) to remove the warning press and hold both accelerator and brake pedals then turn the key to position 1 and wait for the 'OK' to show. This is if you have convers+ dash.

My first Mondeo was a 2.3 petrol MA. It's a much better car with the diesel, although not as quiet and smooth.
The auto in my MB is very smooth. I'd suggest a service by a auto specialist, who are likely to know far more than a Ford dealership. My MA did not have Bluetooth, but it was the LX with the Ford head unit. The MB can't play music from my phone. Probably the most annoying problem with the car! The filler cap doesn't lock on the MA, but I recall that automatic central locking can be programmed.

Hi all
Thank you so much for your kind replies. @cobrin Loving my new vehicle. It wasn't the car I was expecting to buy in the first place but it ticks all the boxes and more! I have not been able to pair Bluetooth (upon pressing on the Phone buttons, the head unit displays the message 'Audio Muted' and does nothing else). I don't have Convers+ in my dash (it's the mono red kind). The gear shift doesn't feel like a big problem (just a slight nuisance) but I'll find your tutorial and see what I can do from there. I've read about some of the features you mentioned in the manual - they're really cool! Also PM'ed you my VIN, thanks! @NZ XR6 Coming from a petrol car it's a bit louder but the audio system's quite nice and kind of masks the engine noise. Thanks for confirming re: Bluetooth & fuel cap. Re: central locking, I couldn't find anything in the dash menu/manual, so I'm guessing the feature's just not there. |

There are some features that can only be enabled by the dealer, and I recall that automatic central locking was one of these. But you probably just need an OBD2 cable and the right software to do it now.
