Post Ford Focus Recall : Fire Risk

"FORD Australia is writing to owners of 42,988 vehicles to warn them that a fault with their car could lead to a fire.
The safety recall, released Thursday, states that certain Ford Focus cars made between April 12, 2011 and September 29, 2015 could have blocked carbon canisters. This would be a result of the car ingesting excessive levels of dust.

Thousands of Ford Focus cars are now subject to a recall
"This could cause the fuel tank to reach vacuum levels that exceed design limits," the product recall states.
"If this condition is not corrected, the fuel tank may crack, resulting in a fuel leak.
"A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can lead to a fire."

Ford Australia is writing to those owners affected and telling them to go to their local Ford dealership for an inspection and to fix the problem.
For further information contact any authorised Ford dealer or the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on toll-free 1800 503 672.

....well, that model Focus anyway. Absolute lemon. I'm glad that we waited for the LZ model.

In saying that, I hope it is better built than the previous model

Never had any gearbox trouble with ours, but this is the second recall we've had for the car. The other was for a driveshaft replacement.

Literally picked up my Focus the day the recall came out
Called my local dealer yesterday and they told me it would be 3 weeks for the parts to come in

At least these no cases of fires? Right? Some consolation I guess.

Yeah I'm not particularly fussed
Do you know if there's some way to check to see if my car's had the other recalls done on it?

I have not received my letter at all but had the LW in for its service a few weeks ago. They checked that it was on the recall list and ordered the parts. The car has now been done although I had to take it back again when the parts arrived.
