When I accelerate, my 2005 plated Focus makes a loud noise like an overengineered V8...
A little in 1st A lot in 2nd and 3rd much less in 4th barely noticeable in 5th gear. I have thought/searched for answers, and I get sane to comical answers, like Hole in exhaust Dirty mounts It could be your bearings You could have misshapen tyres Your CV boot needs replacement (I thought they clicked?) and if you don't your wheels will fall of (!?) Just get a tune up/oil change To the insane "it is your power steering fluid" Any help would be appreciated. PS Over 265,000 km on the clock. So it is old and flogged. If it is just a cosmetic problem I don't care. If it is a safety issue I do care. |

Has it just started to do this ,,?
Or has it been since you've owned it ,,? Check your airbox resonator chamber hasn't broken off ,, Causing more noisy "" boowooooor --gear change --boowoooor ,,,etc etc,, noise on acceleration ,," induction sucking air in " Do a search on YouTube for Ford Focus pod filter ,,, see if it sounds sortta similar. I am the original owner.
Been doing it probably last 10,000 kms, only noticeable in the last 1000-2000 kms. Will check the pod filter. Other than cleaning the PCV, MAF and manifold, the engine seems tickety boo. I suspect it is an inner CV joint or uni joint on one of the driveshafts. No clicking around cul de sacs. No burbling/thrash accelerating downhill or decelerating. Particularly bad however accelerating in corners, uphill and on rough roads. |

Do not try to clean the MAF yourself without special tools and replacement torx screws.
It is in an awful place and the torx screws are thread sealed and soft, they device will ruin the heads of each screw. |
