Question AUII asking price...?

Howdy to all good Ford people! Seems as though the time has come in one's life to make certain sacrifices... Mine being that I will soon be selling my beloved Falcon ute *sob, sob*. She is a AUII Falcon XL and the plate tells me she was built late in 2001. Interior is stock and great condition. On the outside, as you can see from the attached pictures, she's been lowered onto a set of AU XR mags, mildly kitted, but above all just looks great. I am proud to say that there is not one dent anywhere, just as she left the factory, with beautifully clean paint work and practically unscuffed wheels. Also, the genuine 87,000km on the dash is an important point to state.
Anyhow, I'm basically asking all you friendly folk what you think a serious asking price should be for this car? I paid around the $21k mark about 15 months ago, so of course Id like to make a decent percentage of that back, but, we'll see eh?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Cheers - SPS

Thanks to Shockwave XR8, this is what redbook says:

Red Book Code FORD01GI
2001 FORD FALCON

AU II XL Super Cab Utility 2dr Auto 4sp 4.0i (flr)
Prices based on km 100,000 - 150,000
Trade in price guide* $8,700 - $10,100
National average price - private sale* $11,300 - $14,000
Price when new (RRP) $24,592
all prices quoted are GST inclusive

So... considering that my car is actually below their 100,000-150,000km average, is in great condition and has the pre-mentioned *extras/options*, would it be silly to think that I might be able to start advertising around the $18k asking price?

Be honest and tell me if you think I'm an unrealistic twit

You should be able to start at that asking price.
Red book get a lot of their figures from rego green slips when people buy cars and an incorrect price is put down to lower stamp duty so their prices are known to be on the lower scale of things.
Do a quick search on www.carsales.com.au as you can specify make, model, year & area etc so you can see what others are selling for in car yards + privately in your area.

Start from what you want. They can only talk you down so much.

Nice ute BTW.

Well as a guide I bought my BA XLS ute for $17K 3 months ago with 60,000kms. I think $18K is a tad unrealistic for a non-XR AU. Check carsales.com.au and tradingpost.com.au to see what your competition is asking.

There was a bloke in the NT wanting to sell his stock-as-a-rock AU.... $20k, and it's still for sale!!!
My previous Ute, 97 XHII Falcon... I bought it for $10,000 in 2004, traded it early last year, they gave me $9000 trade for the BA, and then sold it to some wally for $11,000!!!
I am no car valuer, so don't hold me to this- $13-15k??? I honestly don't know, ballpark figure!

Hi
I've just been selling a 14 month old XR6 and have purchased a three year old Fairmont Ghia 5.4. The below link is a lot closer to reality than the red book.
