The 3.6 SIDI LGX looks to be a new engine for the Commodore VXR and Buick Regal GS.
I (Think) its the same engine In the Cadillac ATS & Camaro which has 250KW still n/a

Not saying it isn't going to be an issue but the stretching timing chains were earlier engines

Default Re: 2018 SS (VXR) Commodore (slower than an Aurion...)

I think sales in the 700-1000 a month sounds about right. A couple of things to ponder -

-Fleets sales will make up a certain amount but they no longer have that "buy local" advantage and with an aggressive Hyundai and evergreen Toyota offering better fleet prospects, that higher figure will be a stretch. Consider Toyota's fleet optimised service/running costs and the idea of offloading an 2 or 3 year old Hyundai with a healthy balance of warranty left means Holden no longer hold much advantage in fleet.

-Holden's line will be that "we are now targeting more private buyers". That's fine, but this new Commodore no longer appeals to the buyers that once bought large Holden branded sedans, utes, wagons. The V6 AWD will be a good piece of kit, but its not the V8 that drew customers back time and time again. So Holden are then left with the declining amount of customers that still want a medium/large sedan. That's not many, escpecially when you look at the sales of vehicles like the Passat, Mondeo, Optima ect ect.

-Whilst no longer having to support the local factory should in theory increase the profit margins on the Commodore, these cars are now effectively being "purchased" from a now non-GM factory. I would assume this would cut into the profits compared to them being "sourced" from a GM subsidiary.

What ratio of commodores currently sold are V6? and how many are base models?
this new commodore reports to have a much better base model with a 200kw 250Nm 4cyl
which is much more than the current V6.

Those complaining it will be smaller - doesn't have rear drive - not as good for towing have most likely already moved onto a more suitable SUV. (or should have)

There will be those that will Buy it just because its the next commodore.

It will probably still sell better than Mondeo - Holden need it to

The split was like 60% V6 40% V8....

As for this new car Ill probably buy one to replace our Focus, my VF Calais V was a great car on the open road and fuel wise it blew me away.

Thumbs up Re: 2018 SS (VXR) Commodore (slower than an Aurion...)

Latest Railpage.com.au news. I wonder which model these engines are bound for. For the Commodore maybe, eh?

www.chinadaily.com.cn

A freight train loaded with car engines produced in China left Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province, bound for Dourges in France Thursday 23rd.

The 3,432 engines made by China's Dongfeng... Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company.... were ordered by French car manufacturer Groupe PSA.

The engines were transported via the new direct China-Europe freight train route opened on Oct 28.
Cheers

The engines are going to France for an existing PSA vehicle, not to Opel.......

Dongfeng is a JV between the Chinese & Citroen (which by default has become PSA) that's been going 25 years, so it's more likely they'll end up in a Citroen.

And I thought Geelong to broadmeadows was a big trip.

It's a different world to the one I was born in.

I saw one on the drive to Philip Island a few weeks ago. It was before the Holden proving ground and the car had the badges covered in black and white stickers.
