Default Drive suggesting the G6ET was the best Falcon ever

It's almost as if they've just discovered what a good thing we once had available:

The author of that article is right about one point.

If you are looking to buy an FG Turbo, you have more chance of getting an unmodified, unmolested and hooned one in a G6E than an XR6.

Most G6E and G6ET’s were purchased by older more mature business people.

The only thing you don’t get is the LSD with the G6ET... But the luxury interior and comfort makes up for that.

Never understood this decision. XR6t may attract a different demographic that the G6Et but doesn't mean grandad doesn't want to make number 11's on his driveway sometimes too

Yup, not unusual to see them at the track at all.

No, I think the dipstick word is quite appropriate. For the author, not the trans....

Severe lack of research there...... How long has it been? Something like 15-20 years since a Falcon 6 has had a dipstick.....

My father in law is over 70 and still lets rip in his V8 Caprice. Surprises a few left-lane idiots at the lights too. Never too old.....

Tell me where I can buy a 2014 G6ET for $17,900 and i'd buy 2. Have been looking for one lately and that will only get you a good 2008/9 model. What are they basing their values on? Redbook? Cause they are laughable.

Unless it's done 300,000+km and it's rough as guts.

I was after a G6E-T back in 2013 and drove a few. They were sublime cars. Then I snagged a SC 335 GT for $10k more.

The GT is brutal, but I still think the G6E might have been the better car overall...

Its a weird one because David Morley is usually quite clued up on those type of things and has been a big Ford I6 fan for long time.

I was on the lookout for one a little while ago, and saw a few for around that price. You're right though they were rough. I was surprised to see so many neglected examples.
I had more trouble finding a gem, even at higher prices.

Bought my first one when I was 23. Bought my 2nd one when I was 28. Love them to bits. All the performance of an XR6T but in unassuming looking body.

My first one ended up running 10s at the drags and the majority of people anywhere would never pick it for being a rocketship. People talk about them not having an LSD, but my current FGX G6ET did come with one.

A really good friend has an early G6E T and despite the 180,000 plus clicks on it now it's still a looker and runs sweet as new. Not surprised that Drive rate it so high . I found a little vid made by a North American crowd (Octane Report) several years ago about the basically FPV version of the G6E T , the F6E. Suitably impressed they were .

That said here's a really nice review from way back in 2008 from the actual G6E T and I'm biased I admit because I own an FG XR6 but the G6's were then and still are one of local Ford's truly best cars. A decade on and a tidy G6Eor G6E T , F6 , F6E or even a well cared for XR6 T or XR6 still draw attention with various versions of the fancier Falcon sixes.
