Hi all, I’m stuck at work and the wife has just phoned me as title suggests. Car reversed off drive she went to select drive but nothing, put it back in reverse and reversed back onto the drive, now car won’t start, appears to be stuck in reverse gear. Anyone any ideas? My first thought was selector problem, but not home until Tuesday. Car has 90k on it. Any help/ info much appreciated.

if you are really lucky the selector arm has come loose on the transmissions side.
Otherwise a few more expensive options arise. The safety switch on the auto is designed to stop you starting an auto car while in gear. |

Thanks, it’s something like that. The P selector light is flashing on the dash but the rev lights are stuck on hence why it won’t start. Are both the items you mention on the outside of the gearbox?

usually both are on the side of the transmission housing but am not sure about your particular one.

Hi, had a look at the wife’s car this morning. The cable has broken at the gearbox quadrant, funny enough we had a ba falcon and this did the very same thing. Went to the Ford Stealer and they had a cable at $289, I managed to get him down to $253, just got to fit it now. Thanks for all your help/comments.
