Default MC Mondeo Titanium Stereo - no sound

Hello

Have a Sony MC345 factory Ford stereo in a 2010 Titanium Mondeo...

Stereo seems to work okay except for no sound output! (not muted or volume turned down before you ask) :-)

Had fault codes checked and (from memory) said DCS module faulty??

Is this something that can be repaired / fixed or should I bin it? Have an electronics background and happy to pull apart in case something simple...

Thanks in advance

Maybe DSC, dynamic stability control, not DCS.

Thanks Rondeo, all these acronyms!

I have read elsewhere I hard reset of the unit by holding power off for 20 seconds may solve? I have removed unit but will fit on the weekend and post outcome...

Cheers

Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset. Worked for me. Same head unit I believe.

A tiny scrap of info here on page 26:

It's a microprocessor so reset maybe works as suggested below.

Hi all
Update...
Reconnecting power did not work. Also disconnected power and reconnected power and did not reset the microprocessor. There is a software update if you have a USB port (I dont).
Screen just has "No Audio"
Think will not be able to fix without software update which short of putting in another car with USB to update (not likely) will be a brick :-)

Thanks for your help. Will be looking at the flash stereo upgrade from Eonon :-)

Cheers

Hi. If you have the unit out of the car you can check that none of the speaker wires are shorted to earth using a multimeter. A short to earth or between speaker wires will shut the audio output down. Cheers MD

Thanks Michael
I will have a look. I know the car side of things are okay but could be the stereo side... will have to see if I can find a diagram of what each pin is.
Cheers

Hi. I am thinking along the lines of the car side of things, ford factory speakers have had a problem for years with the insulator tab falling of the back of the door speakers and shorting a wire out to the speaker frame. Cheers MD

Thanks, I know car side is okay as have fitted lower spec radio and works okay... guess could be a module inside the radio faulty if not a firmware problem?

I have a 2010 MB with the same stereo. It intermittently mutes, which is great if you are on the phone. Took it back many times under warranty and of course it never faulted for the dealer. It still fails occasionally.
