do mondeos get clear coat failure?

do they even have a clear coat?
I want to buy a used wagon. Should I look only for a white one?

2012 Moondust silver MC wagon.
Paint looks pretty good to me. And I don't pour all the expensive "juice" over it. Just keep it clean.

any car can get that kind of failure, though it's typically more so from contamination and lack of any protection.


Washing it isn't a protection strategy, it's merely clean which is great but nothing to brag home about. You'd want some protection is all. Be it a sealant and wax. Though wax doesn't last as long as I'd wish it would and on some colours you wouldn't tell it's even been done let alone have anything on it. Like my moondust silver MB. Spent 9hrs on it and it looked like I had only just washed it. As I said some colours can really look magic with a wax.



Now I do this once a year:
Wash
Claybar
NuFinish wait a day and do another coat
(apply with a DA polisher for speed purposes and less elbow grease)


in between that $2-3 at a car wash for high pressure rinse as required, and the odd wheel dressing. If I have light scratches develop then a Meg's Ultimate compound polish does it for me then go over with NuFinish after. Any other muck that gets on it gets a wet paper towel on it for a minute and it wipes off silky smooth like.



Am about to start to wash it at home now that I'm home more. (and finally found two cheap pale buckets for the two bucket method)


I realise car detailing can be personal to many, I'm not saying it's the best method, just offering what I'm happy with and the cost to do so. Ignore if it insults.
