Craig,

Is the 2.9% finance deal being offered at your Ford dealership only or across the board with all Ford dealers?

I ask because, this week I bought a brand new MY17 Mustang, got the $2000 Genuine Ford accessories for free, 5 yrs / unlimted kilometres, plus 3 years free servicing. (Pick it up tomorrow).

However, the finance manager, did not offer the 2.9% finance deal, instead offering a secured bank loan at 6%, for which I was instantly approved for.

I have not signed the finance documents as yet, so I can still ask.

Is that on top of existing discounts on Mustang GT or in place of them?
I recall seeing up to $10k off the GT in the past........

I can't comment on the GT models, but my dealer told me, Ford dealers cannot get anymore MY17 Ecoboosts from Ford Australia, and what is left is only the stock held at each dealership.

Wignall Ford (Owned by AHG... Australia's largest motoring group, with multiple Ford dealerships), bought the last 3 Ecoboosts and I bought one, and the other two sold in out in 3 days from the super runout deal they advertised.

the car sales web page currently lists 741 new my17 mustangs across the range across australia
https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/res...pDeal&limit=12
and according to my dealership this doesn't include the pool of my17 mustangs that will be on offer thru the ford 2nd car offer when you buy a new ranger and opt in to be able to have a mustang for up to two weeks a year
https://www.ford.com.au/shopping/ford2ndcar/

With the list of features of the 2018, why would you buy a 2017 model.

10 speed box
Full LCD dash.
A host of safety features.

And lets hope it has a better crash rating...

Maybe because some people can justify the $$$ to buy a MY17 at the deals they are offering whereas they can't justify it for an MY18

Spot on!... I'm just your average working class guy, and my MY17 Ecoboost at the runout deal pricing was $10,000 - $12,000 cheaper than the better MY18 Ecoboost.

That's a lot of extra money to me at the moment, and I could not afford the MY18.

The thing with a Mustang is its an icon, and it does not matter what year you buy, unlike other cars... Mustangs always turn heads and keep their value.

If you can live without the digital dash, 10 speed and safety features, go for the MY17.

The MY18 is only going to be a short run before the MY19 comes out and again I'm sure that will have better features yet again... But at some stage, you have to "jump on the bandwagon", as life is too short to wait and wait for something better.

The MY18 GT fully decked out is going to be close to $80K with the luxury car tax threshold it now breaks.... The MY17 GTs at runout circa $56K are absolute bargains, and anyone who misses the MY17 boat is going to be kicking themselves IMO, if finances matter.

There are still deals to be made on the MY18, Picked mine up with added Auto, stripes, tint, ceramic paint protection, drive away business rego for a touch over $70k. Yes its around $14k more but that 10 speed and digital dash sure do look good.

The bi-modal exhaust on the 18 GT is worth all the extra money on it's own. It sounds epic.
