You realise it is only manuals.
So few people buy them now and there is no manual available on the next (2019) model it doesn't matter really.

Actually it really does matter.
Anyone loyal to the brand would of chosen the manual version of the lz over the auto just to be safe from the pitfall of the dual clutch lw.
so anyone that went the safe route has still been delivered a double blow of bad luck

Our LZ is Auto, knowing full well, that the last set up was a disaster.

We don't test these Focus's out at the proving ground, but knowing how hard and full on majority of testing is for each model lets me know they can handle a lot in terms of punishment.

Ford also only gets a certain amount of models, so really if those couple of models make it through and then they begin failing in the field, it's just some bad luck, but at least Ford are recalling most issue........the LW auto issue was a disaster and really wasn't handled the way it should have been though.

For Ford to do a recall, they need to know that it has a common occurrence and not just an anomaly. Every single person uses their car differently. If one car out of 75,000 has an issue, there are too many variables to put it down to vehicle fault. There would be limited data/information to narrow down any cause, and could even just be something that the owner has done. Every company would operate the same way. It would be a massive knee jerk reaction to recall every little issue, and would sink nearly every car company.

Dropped the car off today for the recall (it was getting serviced anyways).

This is how they got to the conclusion for the recall.

The service check is just this.

A1 TEST CLUTCH SLIPPAGE
Apply the parking brake.
Start engine and engage 4th gear.
Run the engine at approximately 2,000 rpm.
Slowly release clutch pedal.

Does the engine stall when the clutch pedal is fully released?
Yes Clutch is OK.

If there is a clutch slippage, you'll get a loan car in the meantime until it's resolved.

The powershift issue doesn't seem rare at all.

I was talking of recalls in general.
