Measuring Sensor Voltages

How do you do this? Can you check them at the diagnostic connector in the fuse panel or do you have to supply the specified voltage to the sensor and read the return?

Just use a multimeter at the sensor. A lot of the sensors work off resistance though, so for ones like the temp sens, you'll have to switch it to ohms.

Yes I understand this but I'm saying if it needs the voltage how do you technically measure the values? Do you have to strip wires etc?

yeah u have to supply the voltage to the sensor....IE test with the car running or ign on. If you have a voltage type sensor then it won't read anything unless there is voltage supplied to it (with the exception of the oxygen sensor which creates it's own voltage).
