Default Re: QLD Car Rego Going Up Twice rate of Infaltion.

This is the NT rego costs, note that charges here are per engine size not like QLD.

Quote:
Engine size (cc) 12 months 6 months
2001 - 2500 $747.85 $379.90
2501 - 3000 $785.85 $398.90
3001 - 3500 $839.85 $425.90
3501 - 4000 $880.85 $446.40
4001 - 4500 $930.85 $471.40
4501 - 5000 $972.85 $492.40
5001 - 5500 $1051.85 $531.90
The NT is nearly on par with every other state and yet we have virtually a tenth of the roads of any other, mostly only dual single lane motorways if you are traveling North or South also to date we only have two overpasses and the are both in Darwin.

We had a water pipe blow in the main road here is Alice about 2 months ago and at the time it was patched with barricades and they are just getting to fix it now.

At least the other states you can see where the money is being spent but not here.

I don’t understand why we pay for rego anyway (other than it being a revenue stream for the government).

CTP, sure.

But the actual registration fee doesn’t cost a few hundred dollars for some one to push 8 or 10 buttons to change the date on your rego.

And the “Traffic improvement fee”. Well that’s crap, no traffic has improved with this fee in the entire time its been charged. At least not here In QLD.

When I first registered my car in 2005. It was $694 for my V8. It is $1054 IIRC. I’m guessing that it will be nuging 1100 now. By my calcualtions that’s more than 3-4% per year.

Awesome.

RACQ News released today quotes ... “Queenslanders fork out the most in registration and licensing fees which have skyrocketed nearly 15 percent in the last four years” .
