Alright let's take a mid weight between the 2 which puts us at ~1950lbs. Reason, a lot of stuff get pulled out of the street version of the car and to handle both power requirements and the scrutineers a lot of stuff gets put into the car.
I assumed a frontal area of 30 sq ft and a drag coefficient of 0.45. If anyone knows better, it is easy enough to recalculate. A more direct indicator of hp in a drag race is mph, however, there are rules of thumb of ETs should ideally match up with certain mph ranges and vice versa. In this case both numbers correlate well. To convert to fwhp I am getting 705hp if taken from a 600rpm/sec dyno pull from a calibrated SuperFlow 901 or 902 water brake dyno. A steady state reading would calibrate to around 740hp. Both of these numbers are from a highly efficient chassis and powertrain combinations. This maps to ~2.766 lbs/hp or 2.635 depending on method. There are some more simplistic algorithms out there, such as the Moroso "Miracle Wheel", etc that use 235 as a constant. |

Obviously the thing weighs more then what it did stock. A barra with a snail and all the ascociated bits will do that, and stiffening for that, saftey, and traction business will add weight. So the thing probaby is a bit heavier then factory. You cant really even strip out the interior because they didnt really have much to start with. Even if it weighs say 1200kgs, its more a marvel of engineering that it can get it to the ground over brute power. And i reckon it makes a bit of power.

That said, a lot of folks get disappointed when they learn the power requirements to run a number. That is why I stated this: Quote:
Again, if someone can provide a more accurate weight, it is easy to recalculate. Also, if anyone has a better guess on the frontal area and coefficient of drag can help pinpoint better. For example, if it runs a particular class with minimum weights, that could be helpful. For example, my Mustang must weigh no less than 3250 with driver. |
