Default SA police stoop to a new low - fake roadside stop.

So today while heading back to the Alice. I was driving along Port Wakefield Rd and there was an unmarked camera van on the side of the road with a guy clearly visible inside manning the camera. The van had interior blue and red lights constantly flashing and parked immediately in front of the van was a copper in an unmarked sedan.

It was obviously a fake roadside stop to see how many people slow down to 25kph as is required by law when passing police on the side of the road.

No doubt when someone didn’t slow enough he would word up the other guy and off he’d go to get some cash.

I am so glad I live in the NT where the coppers do some real policing and occupy there time actually catch criminals.

I don't believe a camera van constitutes an emergency vehicle. The operator is not an emergency worker.
I'm happy to be corrected, but from what I've read of the legislation and the definition of an emergency vehicle, it doesn't comply.

Most likely explanation. The cop car in front of the van was a Commodore. It had broken down. The van was dropping off the bits to fix it. RAA was on the way.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Are they doing their enterprise bargaining agreement at the moment?
WA cops would do the same, doing 'welfare checks' on the camera operator and warning motorists at the same time all whilst sticking it to the govco for not giving them a cpi pay rise by limiting revenue raising.

No cars pulled over, no member of public visible, no member of public’s car around and the camera operator sitting inside manning the camera whilst the small internal lights on the back window flashing. Plus a cop in uniform sitting in the unmarked car just in front twiddling his fingers waiting for the word.

What’s your theory?

Worst thing was it was raining, the road train in front of me had to brake quite sharply and the guy behind me lost control on the wet road when he tried to change lanes but another car was alongside.

Sure it wasn't one of those vans with the licence plate recognition?
Cop car will deploy for unpaid fines or unlicensed driver etc

Back in the 70's I remember S.A. HWP setting up a fake roadworks site on the Eyre hwy.

Up until that point I'd never seen a traffic jam on the nullabor.

They filled their coffers that day.

Well it was obviously 2 police vehicles performing or finishing up a roadside duty, and hadn’t switched off their red and blues the nanosecond they got back in the car.
Seriously, the cops can’t win with some people.

You see it’s much easier to catch a soft criminal than a real criminal

You mean like the 3 would be terrorists the Melbourne Police just charged that were plotting to kill as many people as they could with a semi automatic rifle.

A criminal is a criminal, soft or hard. Someone texting on their mobile not watching the road runs over a kid, maybe your kid, there's a killer right there.

Who's watching the pedo's you ask, Child Abuse Squad I'd say.

And who lets them out on parole or bail, not the Police, they have to go looking for them again when they re offend on bail, only to be given bail again.

So who's lost the plot?

a mate of mines son work as a Federal copper, he worked for 2 years in the pedophilia squad, you would be amazed about what goes on and who they catch - it doesn't always make mainstream news though, so according to old mate above it doesn't happen

Mind you he would be the first to ring the police when someone is trying to kick his front door in

Just another cop bashing thread.

Until you have concrete proof that this is what they were actually doing this thread is closed.

PM me with some concrete evidence and I will re-open it.
