Will be interesting to see what they do for the next generation of both cars.
Hopefully Camaro will do a modernized Gen 2. |

Great read ....Thanks for posting .. It'd be truly awesome if both were factory offerings , not just one but Australian's want the thank goodness that HSV exists to give us the opportunity to have an option to the mighty Mustang albeit at a more premium price . Better exxy than not at all .
They say that HSV's effort on quality control is really good so anybody buying a Camaro will get a well glued together car . Ford through and through but one day I hope to catch a glimpse of a HSV build Camaro somewhere and maybe own a Mustang in the distant future . Last edited by roddy1960; 05-01-2019 at 07:22 AM. |

For what it's worth, the Camaro sits 3rd behind the Challenger and the number 1 selling mustang in America.
Mustang is firimg on all cylinders.

What a resurgence from the Challenger, the only one not to drop sales on 2017, not bad for a decade old platform. |

I read the review and I was amazed that the Camaro has run flats, but I doubt it will affect sales because buyers will be after exclusivity.
Whereas the Mustang, for Australians, is an emotional purchase because as blokes say, "I've always wanted a Mustang." Gofurther's 4 cylinder Mustang shows it is possible to get yourself into a new Mustang at a reasonable cost, and it is still a 'Mustang that I've always wanted.' The only outward signs are the sound of the engine and the 5.0 badge on the side. That's why manufacturers build a hero car. So that blokes who cannot afford one still feel good about driving a cheaper version of the same brand. This won't happen with the Camaro in Australia because of market limitations HSV is working within; hence sales will suffer. No doubt HSV considered whether to do the 2.0l Camaro, or even the 3.6l, but I guess the numbers didn't stack up. |

I wish HSV every success with the Camaro, they've worked hard and put in the effort to deliver
a great vehicle when GM wouldn't, that in itself is deserving of high praise but be under no illusion that this is still a mini assembly line catering for fewer buyers than Mustang - that's why it's unique. ....I have a feeling that these will be mostly keepers, not sure about Camaro beyond the next refresh. Was an interesting review that ended pretty damn close with the Mustangs (comparatively) small price giving it the win... Such a shame they cant compete at a similar price point...
My Redline is being serviced in a few weeks and ive spoken to the salesman who sold me my SS and have tee'd up a drive of their Camaro Demo... Should be an interesting drive... I wouldn't buy one over a mustang but will be good to have a whirl...

I seen a video of hsv doing the conversions on facebook the other day and they were using rattle can spray paint to touch up the firewall on them, not exactly confidence inspiring especially considering the price difference to the mustang.

The handbrake location is not an issue once an owner has acclimatized.

If as you say, the job of the 10-speed auto is to keep the Coyote on song, then that would be doubly true on light throttle, smaller gear steps mean more linear feel to acceleration... |

that's why companies like GM and Ford have added more gears to their auto transmissions. News flash, power comes from burning more fuel and economy comes from burning less... Last edited by jpd80; 10-01-2019 at 05:48 AM. |

Just say hypothetically that this 2017 press release on all left hand drive road registerable cars was to happen ..
https://www.caradvice.com.au/575846/...legal-by-2019/ under Sco Mo not just Turnbull Would this potentially allow for GM to sell Corvettes , Camaro's and Ford to sell a couple of the GT's in original LHD form if you were allocated one ? Or does it just allow for these "Hypercars " . Would be interesting times . Last edited by roddy1960; 10-01-2019 at 06:15 AM. |

No one buys these cars for fuel economy.

In reality, I think you'd find that all three vehicles types would have similar fuel economy, It's more down to what floats your boat, forced induction or the glorious note of a Coyote in full song.. |

I can already guess the next question,
“I wonder if a GT Mustang sounds like a real V8 because it doesn’t have a blower” |
