DPF removal & Re-mapping

Hi,



While it was still under warranty (thankfully) our TDCI LV2 Focus had its computer replaced. At that time, I used to frequent another forum and there were a few topics about removing the Diesel Particulate Filter and having the computer re-mapped.
I remember that there were several posts about a chap who ran a NSW business (Not "Chip Tuning Australia") who specialised in doing this on small cars, not big trucks and SUV's etc. I wonder if any of you know who it is I'm trying to remember here and can help out this decaying grey matter I have between my ears.
If not, can anyone recommend someone in the South East (Melbourne Canberra Sydney etc) who does this sort of thing, please?

Well, I'm betting removing a DPF is illegal. The ECU in your car being replaced has nothing to do with the DPF. Provided you're not driving short distances where the engine does not reach full operating temperature, you shouldn't have any trouble. If you do, you just need to follow the process when a message appears on your dash.

I had VW, that at the time, DPFs were not a requirement, but you still had to be floor it once in a while to blow out the soot. The result was black smoke out the exhaust pipe, which I'm sure was not good for the drivers behind.

DPFs are there for a reason.

beg to differ. there are pressure sensors and heat sensors that tell the car to "regenerate the DPF" basically burn the soot controlled by a ECU.Illegal exhaust mechanics will remove the DPF and replace a pipe but leave the sensors in place. Not recommended as car becomes unroadworthy

Anyone removing dpf’s professionally is unlikely to admit it or advertise it as it carries quite a lengthy jail term and hefty fine.

You do realize it’s there for a reason and on a totally unrelated matter 7 million people die prematurely each year from pollution.
