Hi all,
Had the car serviced a short time ago and asked for the low beam to be lifted slightly as it was only illuminating about 30m in front of the car. With oncoming traffic the lights were mostly on low beam and at highway speeds this made picking exits in good time tricky - hence the request. However after adjustment the lights are like high beam illumination, so I'm looking for some advice. 1. Is aiming of adaptive LED headlights a mechanical or electronic adjustment? 2. If mechanical, then where are the adjustment "screws/threads" and what do they look like? I can get the car far enough away from a vertical wall on a flat horizontal garage floor to get them where I would like them to be if it can be done mechanically. There isn't any in cabin adjustment like the MA had on the dashboard. I believe the lower spec models in the MD range still have that facility by means of a pop out control that does not exist on our car. If its electrically adjusted then I guess it is back to the dealer. And to save potential confusion, I'm not talking about the ability to switch from drive on left to drive on right lighting. You need a long Allen Key - there is an adjusting screw in a recess just behind the headlight housing - it is mechanical - you don’t need to remove anything.
You can then place the md near a wall and adjust as per most cars - the adjustment is just up and down - the auto headlight will still adjust for corners etc - could not see anyway of changing that. I had the same issue as you, after the adjustment .... no issue. I initially when brand new asked the ford garage however they were not sure how to adjust..... Hi all,
Firstly, thanks to Chatswood for the information. I was guessing that those "threads" were the mechanical adjustment locations, but given the value of the adaptive headlamp assembly I felt getting some independent knowledge was wise. Secondly, the adjustment was quite easy - if you have a similar need the adjustment screws (on our car) are coloured white and lie a the bottom of a channel in the rear face of the headlamp assembly. The channel is about 12cm deep to the hex socket, which also has a Phillips screwdriver slot at the bottom of it.The hex socket is 8mm and a 15 cm Allen key or longer is fine. Before you start make sure that the headlamps are correctly set for Oz driving i.e. on the left. The settings menu for lighting is a little confusing as it refers to traffic direction. I concluded that this meant that oncoming traffic was either left or right and in the case of Oz this means right traffic. Interestingly picking left traffic on our car caused the light beams to lift and this was where the service centre left them. Ideal if I went possum hunting as the lamps were illuminating roadside tree crowns on the right! All's well that ends well however. Thanks again Chatswood. cheers

You need a 6mm Allen Key not 8mm. Apologies
