Hi guys, hope this is in the right section, I’m new to this forum so unsure where everything goes.
Thought I’d start off by asking if anyone has heard of any common problems with the MD mondeo wagons, in particular the diesel ones? I bought a 2017 Titanium MD Wagon in Feb this year and it’s been giving me real headaches. First started with a clunk coming from the front left wheel with any movement - dealer unable to replicate. The dash being mostly digital tends to lag a lot, as time goes on it gets progressively worse. I can turn the car on and it can take up to 2 minutes to display anything other than the RPM Count - intermittent fault, dealer can’t replicate. My biggest worries are as follows - transmission Kind of sticks and revs itself to high heaven, normally shifts at anything over 2000rpm during normal driving but lately it gets “stuck” at 3000 and won’t move unless I change it with the flappy paddles - Dealer can’t replicate, intermittent Fault. Last night drove about 40 minutes, turned it off briefly and went to start it, it attempted to turn itself over for 10 seconds, coughing and spluttering before it just went clunk and stalled. Started it up after that and it was fine, except a slight hiccup 10 minutes later on idle. Shortly after that mishap we got an error message on the sync screen saying the GPS was malfunctioning and since last night has not worked. Any ideas what it could be? I’m hesitant about taking it to the dealer and receiving their standard BS response. The car does get driven a fair amount, I’ve done a little over 20,000ks since feb, but I’ve serviced it, and overall is a well looked after car. Cheers |

first up keep a record of all the problems and every time you take it in. Keep taking it back till it's seen to properly, even if it means dropping it off after collecting it and it happens again leaving the Dealership. take someone with you and video the faults so they see. Also worth getting an OBD2 adaptor and start recording what's happening and give hard copies.
Also wouldn't hurt to let headoffice (Ford Australia) know and respond. When each fault is logged keep taking it to Ford and after 5 attempts for each problem get on to ACCC with all you've gathered to put pressure on them. Don't keep it quiet make it known you'll be back every time.

Mine is the petrol version but it played up in weird ways when the battery was on the way out
Perhaps get the battery tested.

Hmm thanks. I’m just over the **** fights with dealers.
Last year I ended up having a Mazda 6 purchased back off me by a dealer I purchased it from because the endless faults..however I don’t think I’ll be successful in doing that again. Haha. The car I replaced it with is actually going up for auction at 10am due to its horrid fuel consumption. The list I put here isn’t all of them, the others are just smaller issues that I think are a big deal but most people would shrug off, so I left them off the list! |

(I should have said 3 attempts but it's too late to change now) Please tell us what you'd do if you were in the same shoes as the OP?

There’s nothing I hate more than the dealerships standard response of we couldn’t replicate so nothing has been done. It’s not just a Ford thing either. Especially when I know they have done the absolute minimum to suss out the issue.

Mine is the first MD to be imported into Australia and was used at Ford Geelong for training the techs and shipped around the country for introduction to the sales people. If anyone is going to have issues with their MD Titanium, it's going to be me.

or my folks too xahh, bought Aug/Sept '15.
Father enquired about the hatch cause the last 4" seemed to slam shut, they 'said' they agreed and replace both actuators. I noticed when turning the steering wheel it clicked really loudly, probably the same problem another user had with a wiring clip coming loose and catching internally. I don't know if my father told them on the next service but it was gone following that service. It get all the updates Sync and satnav as they're released so he's really having a good as you'd expect to, run with the MD and the local Service Centre. which kinda kills the mood with other having terrible times as the OP.

Mine has a compliance date of 11/14 and is now out of warranty so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It had only travelled around 5000KM when I bought it in October 2016. Very few problems but prior to end of the warranty, my local dealer dealt with any issues promptly and to my satisfaction. It's rather disappointing that others don't experience the same professional approach from their dealers service department.

I thought that was normal. Has the replacement of the actuators changed anything? Does it close softer now?

Well it’s booked in, again, for next week. Now we seem to have possibly developed a coolant leak too.
Was half way between min and full on its last service on the 06/05/18 and now it’s below minimum. |

Also, what do you all make of this nonsense?
This is the oil that was "Changed" not even a month ago. If I could service elsewhere I would but stupidly bought an extended warranty so i am locked in with the p****s! |

Black oil is common with diesels.
Nothing to worry about. How did you get on with the battery?

Diesel Engine oil will turn black as quick as Weekbix goes soggy from milk. Nothing abnormal about that so don't give it a second thought.

The battery tested fine. The car goes in Friday for their foreman to check out. I’ve been told to add water to the coolant until they check it out Friday. Apparently it’s super concentrated and they boil it down to 50/50 anyway, so adding water is fine. 🤔 |

So after MONTHS of running around very little has now been sorted.
I am in the process of taking ford to small claims. AC compressor failed about 3 months back. They took the car and said it would be 1 day before it was in - over a week later the part finally arrived. They fixed it and did not bother to tell me about it. The rear tailgate has come completely out of alignment and has caused the struts to twist and the rear windscreen to chip as it now rests on the body of the car. Ford told me 2 months ago that it was covered under warranty and not to worry about it. Today they've gotten back to me and are refusing to repair it because adjustments are only covered for 15,000KM/12 months. This is contradictory to the warranty booklet that says adjustments are covered for 100/000km or 3 years. I've had 2 mechanics diagnose the front clicking and apparently the steering rack (i believe that's what it was from memory) is on it's way out!! Ford are still playing the "Cannot replicate issue" card, and so refuse to fix it! Now starting to mount into many thousands of dollars in repairs that they're denying so off to court we go! |

Ford dealer were quoting what Ford Australia had told them about the repairs. I lodged a complaint with Ford Australia's customer service and got no where with them. Talk about a disaster of a company. |
