Have a 13 year old Ford Territory and as part of the preventative maintenance schedule to try and see the old bus make another 220,000km before any major failures, I am considering replacing the radiator. Are there any subject matter experts on here than can advise as to brands and potential pitfalls etc. I don't just want to buy the cheapest crud available etc. I already have the PWR trans cooler kit on the ZF.

I believe very little at the moment, the temperature gauge site just below half most of the time. I am not in the city, thus preventative maintenance before getting stuck somewhere or ending up cooking an engine by accident when/if ****s itself, seems wise to replace the radiator as part of a preventative maintenance program.

Amen to arronm.
Stick to genuine & fit the V8 one (thicker). If you're onto preventative, suss out the water pump. Again - genuine with new pulley too.

I do believe if you maintain your coolant correctly your radiator should be ok, I'd be more worried about a hose failing before a radiator if you thinking of age related problems.

Hoses will do 400000kms...radiators are a gamble after 200000kms...you can do the maths with how many years that is for you.
You cant compare an old copper radiator to these aluminium/plastic things. They were not a big problem back in the E series Falcons either. |
