Accesory plug

Hi all,
My daughter has a '07 Focus, and loves it.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the accesory plug (cigarette lighter plug), which is live all the time, to change it so it turns off when the key is turned offf and removed.
This is because she uses a dashcam and phone charger, and has on ocassions left the plug in, which lets the acessories continue to run.
Unusual to have this wired like this from the factory?

You might be able to use fuse taps in the fuse box to feed an ign pwr source into the lighter fuse line that runs to the socket being as it's bound to have it's own separate line. This is the easiest way to have a plug in solution that can be returned to stock in seconds. Other than that just throw a relay in somewhere.

Do u think this is not standard wiring? Maybe I could find where it's been modified (between ignition and acc plug), and return to the way it should be?

I think it's unusual sam, have you checked it yourself?
Maybe she's accidentally left it in the Acc position, I've done that twice now due to old age.

I have an 09 Focus and it is on all the time. Its an Ex-Rental but I wouldn't think that would be a reason. I dont drive it enough/far enough to warrent anything plugged in all the time so not an issue for me. However I do agree its a bit weird to be wired this way.

Could take it to an auto electrician and they should be able to change it.
Or find a way to DIY like 94_ef said

No, nothing weird about it; my Golf had an accessory plug on all the time. In Australia, we think the norm is when the car is off, so too, the cigarette lighter (or radio). In Europe, theses two items work independently of the ignition or accessory position of the key.

My LS Ghia is the same I have connected a 12v adapter to earth on the heater and to fuse 81 on the fuse board, easy to check with a test light just find one that turns on and off with the key in acc.....

Didn't control anything was a live blank for running lights if I remember
