Xbox One chat help

Jsut a simple question if anyone can help.
Got an Xbox one.
Been playing Wold of tanks. It does not have a built in chat function but picks up the Xbox headsets etc.
On random games I can usually chat to another random player.
But now I want to chat to player of my chice via Xbox.
No text works fine but i cant voice chat.
I do not have a Gold Membership just Silver.
Do I need to have Gold to make Voice chat work/

Try private party UK when & if you get gold, it should work with all people afaik, good luck mate!!

Edit - I thought you could invite randoms too though.

Yes but I don't want to. I am just starting to chat in the game. There are a lot of idots out there
